Meet Rosie’s Family

Rosie and her family live in southern New South Wales, and life is busy!

Rosie knew her daughter Maggie, who is in Year 5, needed extra support and a confidence boost after struggling at school for a while. Her son Angus, who is in Year 2, also needed extra challenges, as he was getting bored at school.

But with a busy family life, Rosie knew they needed support that would work for the whole family.

What Stood Out During the Assessment?

When Maggie and Gus started tutoring with Kinetic Education, Rosie was able to see exactly where each child was up to through their assessment report, including what they were already doing well and where they needed extra support.

The report showed that Gus was already working ahead, while Maggie’s results helped the family understand her learning gaps, her current level, and where she could go next.

A few months in, Maggie completed another formal assessment and could clearly see how much she had improved. Seeing her progress gave her the confidence boost she needed to keep going.

How Our Assessment Works

When your child starts with Kinetic Education, we assess them across key areas of the Australian Curriculum to understand where their learning currently sits. From there, we provide a clear report that helps you see what they have already achieved, where support may be needed, and what they are ready to work on next.

A Clear Breakdown of Their Learning

The brick wall shows the areas within the curriculum your child has already achieved, while the red sections highlight where support may be needed.

See the Bigger Picture

Our reports help you see what your child has already achieved, where support may be needed, and what they are ready to work on next.

Understand Your Child’s Learning

Each area we assess is aligned with the Australian Curriculum, giving you a clear picture of where your child’s learning sits.

Know What Comes Next

Your child’s initial assessment, ongoing assessments, and weekly progress help guide their weekly lesson plan, so it is always targeted to their needs.

What does learning with Kinetic Education look like at home?

Being a busy family and living further out of town, in-person tutoring wasn’t something that easily fit into daily life.

With Kinetic Education, Maggie and Angus can complete their personalised learning plans online, on their iPads, and at a time that works for their family.

They can log in on any device, and while the family has one shared login, each child has their own personalised learning portal where they can access their lessons.

For Rosie’s family, Kinetic Education has become part of their afternoon routine, whether they’re learning on the couch or even in the tractor!

Have Maggie and Gus reached out to their tutor for support?

At Kinetic Education, every child receives a personalised learning plan designed to teach them, with activities broken into manageable steps and support built in along the way.

Maggie and Angus haven’t needed to call their tutor since joining Kinetic Education. Rosie believes this comes down to the structure of the lessons, as they can usually go back, review the activity and work out what they missed.

Rosie also values the feedback Maggie receives on her writing tasks. It’s positive, constructive and gentle enough that it doesn’t overwhelm her, while still helping her understand what to improve.

What Changes Have You Noticed in Maggie’s Learning?

Before joining Kinetic Education, learning new topics often felt overwhelming for Maggie. She would freeze, and if she got something wrong, she didn’t want to keep going.

Now, Maggie can learn at a pace that feels more manageable. If she doesn’t understand something straight away, the topic comes up again, helping her become more familiar with it and feel calmer. She’s no longer as afraid to try or make mistakes.

Rosie says this is one of the things she really likes about Kinetic Education. When a child struggles, they’re never made to feel like they’re bad at it. Instead, the message is, “We believe in you, and we’ll keep covering it until it becomes easier.” New topics are then introduced when the child is ready, which has worked really well for Maggie.

“She doesn’t get anxious anymore, and she doesn’t freeze. She’s not afraid of getting things wrong, which I think has been one of the best lessons.”

How did NAPLAN feel for Maggie this year compared to previous years?

Rosie remembers that as Year 5 NAPLAN was approaching, their tutor suggested adding NAPLAN practice tasks into Maggie’s lesson plan.

Before getting support from Kinetic Education, Maggie had found NAPLAN overwhelming. After her Year 3 NAPLAN, she admitted to Rosie that she had skipped through the questions because she didn’t really understand them. The format felt so different from anything she had learnt at school.

So, having the chance to practise with activities that were similar to NAPLAN, including the way the questions were structured and worded, really helped with her preparation. That familiarity allowed Maggie to feel like NAPLAN wasn’t so bad after all. She didn’t feel overwhelmed, and her results reflected that!

How Kinetic Education Supports NAPLAN

NAPLAN can feel like a big milestone for families, but preparing for it does not have to mean pressure or last-minute cramming. At Kinetic Education, we help children build the maths and English skills they need over time, so they can approach NAPLAN with more confidence.

Through a personalised learning plan, children receive regular practice matched to their level. They work through interactive activities, clear explanations and instant feedback, helping them strengthen their understanding while becoming more comfortable with online-style questions.

Skill-Building First

We focus on building real understanding in maths and English, so children can develop the skills behind the questions.

Support at the Right Level

Each child’s personalised learning plan is tailored to their needs, helping them practise at a level that feels achievable while still moving forward.

Online Learning Practice

As children complete activities online, they become more familiar with reading, working through and answering questions in a digital format.

Support Beyond the Test

The goal is not just NAPLAN preparation. Kinetic Education helps children keep building confidence, skills and stronger learning habits throughout the year.

What Have Maggie and Angus Chosen to Spend Their Rewards On?

We know that sometimes children need that extra bit of motivation, which is why they earn points for every task they complete!

They can exchange these points for gift cards from places like Smiggle, Wish and Myer, or even choose to donate them to the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

Choosing what to spend their points on is a big decision, and it’s something Maggie and Angus are having a lot of fun with!

Have You Noticed Any Changes in Maggie and Angus’ Confidence at School?

One of the biggest moments for Rosie is when Maggie and Angus come home from school excitedly telling her they learnt something that day that they had already covered with Kinetic Education.

For Maggie, this has been huge. Topics she once struggled with, and worked hard to understand through her Kinetic Education lessons, are now coming up again at school. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, she already has a sense of what to do.

She’s also started remembering mistakes she has made in the past and using what she has learnt to approach her schoolwork differently. Where she once may have wanted to stop and say, “It’s too hard,” she now has the confidence to keep going.

“It’s really lovely when they come home and say,
‘Oh, we learned about this at school today,
but I already knew it because I’d done it
in my Kinetic lessons.’”

Have There Been Any Moments Since Starting Kinetic That Made You Feel Proud of Maggie and Angus?

Rosie proudly shared with us that the learning Maggie and Angus are doing at home with Kinetic Education is extending into their achievements at school.

Maggie decided to set herself the goal of getting an A in maths, and after working incredibly hard, boosted her maths grades to C’s and B’s. Her teacher was so impressed, telling Rosie she had really noticed the difference. In fact, Maggie was presented with an award for absolute determination in maths and improvement!

And for Angus, his progress has been noticed too. He was given an award for excelling in maths, as well as supporting his peers once he had completed his own work.

With Kinetic Education, you’ll see their progress at home and at school, and others will start to notice too.

Have You Started Thinking About High School for Maggie?

Like many parents, Rosie has started thinking about what high school could look like for Maggie.

Their local high school is a great option, but living in a rural area means there are fewer choices close to home. And because Maggie loves drama and performing, Rosie has also been looking at schools a little further away that may give her more opportunities to explore those interests.

Some of those schools ask children to provide academic results or sit an entry test, which can feel like a big step for any family.

Now, with support from Kinetic Education, Rosie has more peace of mind knowing Maggie is better prepared for that process. Maggie now has strong NAPLAN results, along with weekly reports that show her progress, effort, and growth over time.

And if Maggie is in a position where she needs to sit an entry exam, Rosie knows she will be walking in with far more confidence than she would have had before.

“When you love learning, and you’re in an environment where learning feels fun, it becomes so much easier. It opens up their world to so much potential.”

Rosie, Kinetic Education Parent

What Would You Say to Other Parents Considering Kinetic Education?

Rosie told us she is happy to tell other parents about Kinetic Education, especially when she hears that their little ones are having a hard time at school.

She knows from experience that when young learners feel anxious, or they are not loving learning, there is potential to get the right support around them and help them feel more confident again.

For Rosie, it is simply about opening up more opportunities for children, helping them see their own potential, and not letting them be held back because they do not yet have the confidence or support they need to learn.

So if friends mention that their little ones are struggling at school, Rosie openly tells them about Kinetic Education, how it works, and how it has helped her family.

What Are You Most Excited About for Maggie and Angus’ Future Learning?

For Rosie, one of the most exciting parts of Maggie and Angus’ future learning is the opportunities they now have in front of them.

Before Kinetic Education, Maggie’s mindset was often, “What is the bare minimum I need to do so my teachers don’t focus on me?” Her teachers always spoke highly of her, but they noticed she didn’t always have the confidence to push herself, excel, or take that next step.

With Kinetic Education, Maggie is now being given the chance to build that confidence. Her personalised learning plan allows her to keep strengthening the areas she needs support with, while also being introduced to new topics when she is ready.

Sometimes, this even includes work from above her current grade level. For Rosie, this is exciting because it means Maggie and Angus can become familiar with concepts they may eventually see at school. So when those topics come up in the classroom, they don’t feel completely new or overwhelming.

Instead, they can think, “I’ve seen this before,” and have the confidence to give it a go.

Within 3 months we can see the difference.

We found Kinetic online and went with it as this was the only platform which knew about kids on ASD High functioning activities. My son and Daughter got on the program and within 3 months we can see the difference where both of them had no difficulty doing their NAPLAN this year. Its 15 minutes a day gives the children an edge at school. Communication is great with regular calls and checkups from tutor and admin. Highly recommend.

We couldn’t be happier with how the kids are progressing.

We couldn’t be happier with how the kids are progressing. We’ve seen our daughter (who was really struggling with maths and English start to enjoy learning again. The team at kinetic education are so attentive and in tune with how the kids are learning, adjusting the weekly lessons to balance confidence and progression. This years NAPLAN result has been so encouraging and I think it comes from the confidence she’s developed from kinetic. Our son, who loves learning is being consistently challenged and we have watched his learning surpass his year level! It’s so nice to be able to get a handle on how the kids are going with their education.
