Understanding Your Child's Level

When your child gets started with Kinetic Education, our English tutors begin by identifying their current level against the Australian Curriculum. This helps us understand the skills they've mastered and where they need the most support right now. From there, we create a personalised learning plan tailored to your child's needs.

Personalised Learning Plans

Your child's personalised learning plan is delivered weekly and can be completed at home on a tablet or computer. New 20-minute English lessons are added based on your child's progress, helping keep learning at the right level and supporting a consistent learning routine.

Proven Progress

As your child strengthens their foundations, you'll see them build skills and confidence in reading and writing, and keep moving forward at a pace that feels right for them.

English Tutor Support

Every family is matched with an English tutor who oversees their child's personalised learning plan and progress. Tutors also provide additional support with writing tasks, including planning, structure, grammar, punctuation and feedback on each draft.

Foundation English: What's Covered and How We Help

Foundation English focuses on helping children build confidence with letter sounds, early reading and beginning writing. The overview below shows some of the key areas your child begins working on during the year, and how Kinetic Education can support them. Every child starts from a different point, so their personalised learning plan is tailored to their current level and continues to adapt based on their progress and results.

This means your child is always working through curriculum-aligned lessons, at a pace that suits them.

Area
What Foundation English Covers
How Kinetic Helps
Letter sounds and phonics
Learning individual letter sounds in a structured sequence, then blending them into simple three-letter words, such as words with a, i, o, e and u.
We find out which letter sounds your child already knows and where they need more practice, then shape their weekly lessons to match.
Sight words and vocabulary
Recognising common sight words by sight, matching words to pictures, and building early vocabulary through colours, animals and everyday objects.
Each word set is introduced in small groups with plenty of repetition, so your child can build recognition and confidence.
Early reading
Reading simple three-letter words and short sentences, building fluency one step at a time.
Interactive activities help your child practise reading in a way that feels manageable and rewarding.
Early writing and letter formation
Forming lowercase and uppercase letters correctly, grouped by similar shapes and movements.
Clear demonstrations and guided practice help your child build handwriting confidence alongside their reading.

Melanie

After years of struggling with maths, Melanie’s daughter boosted her grades and confidence in just a few months with Kinetic Education. She has made so much progress that her new teacher didn’t even realise she had struggled with maths in the past.

Louise

Louise’s daughters started the school year feeling anxious to go to class, worried they wouldn’t understand maths concepts. But in just 4 months, their confidence has grown, and they are now happy to go to maths classes at school. Not only this, but their school reports and grades have boosted, but most importantly their confidence has too!

Rosie

Rosie came to Kinetic Education looking for support for her two children, who both needed completely different support. Her daughter was really struggling with maths, and homework time was always stressful, while her son was one step ahead at school and starting to feel bored. With support from us, Rosie’s daughter is now able to work through new concepts confidently, and her son gets the challenges he needs to stay one step ahead.

Foundation English Tutoring Starts with Identifying Your Child's Level

When your child gets started with Kinetic Education, we begin by identifying where they are currently working in English, including letter sounds, sight words and early reading. This helps us see where they may need more practice and where they are ready to move ahead. From there, we create a personalised weekly learning plan, so your child can work through the curriculum at the right pace for them.

Personalised learning

We update your child's learning plan with new English activities for the week, selected based on their progress each week. Your child's learning plan is structured around three learning stages: Revision and Catch-Up, Consolidation, and Extension.

Revision and Catch-Up

When your child first starts with Kinetic Education, their learning plan begins with the early English skills they need most support with. For Foundation students, this may include revisiting letter sounds, blending or sight words they have started learning at home, preschool or in other early learning environments.

Consolidation

Once their early foundations are stronger, your child practises the skills being covered in Kindergarten English. This may include letter sounds, blending simple words, recognising sight words, early sentence writing and letter formation.

Extension

When your child is feeling confident with Foundation English, we give them the opportunity to gently move ahead while still working at a pace that suits them.

Real English Tutors for Foundation Students

Foundation is a big step for many families, as it is often where formal reading and writing really begins. When your family joins Kinetic Education, you are matched with a tutor who helps your child get off to a strong start, while overseeing their personalised learning plan and keeping an eye on their progress each week. Each activity is designed to teach your child, give them instant feedback and help them build confidence as they move through the curriculum.

Our English tutors also provide additional support with writing tasks. If your child is working on a piece of writing, their tutor can give feedback on planning, structure, grammar, punctuation and clarity, helping them improve their next draft with confidence.

Our tutors are also here for parents. You can speak with your tutor about your child's learning needs, progress and weekly reports, so you know how they are going and what they are working on next.

Tutor support includes:

  • A dedicated English tutor matched with your family
  • Oversight of your child's personalised learning plan
  • Feedback on writing tasks, including planning, structure, grammar, punctuation and clarity
  • Guidance for parents on progress, learning needs and weekly reports

I cannot recommend Kinetic Learning enough if your kids struggle with Math & English.

My son has been a Kinetic Learner for over a year and the lessons have really helped him as he is Dyslexic. His school teachers have seen a big difference in English so much so that he no longer needs support in reading. My son was not a lover of Math but since starting his journey with Kinetic Learning, he is engaged more and is willing to want to complete his weekly lessons. I cannot recommend Kinetic Learning enough if your kids struggle with Math & English. The support team are fantastic and are constantly in contact to discuss your kids progress and what they can do to help make the lessons manageable.

Take the step....you won't regret it!

My 11 year old daughter was struggling with maths, until this program came along. I honestly didn't realise how far she had fallen behind until we did the assessment through Kinetic....my year 6 student had been slipping through the cracks since grade 3! But since being with Kinetic Education, she has been striving forward and actually enjoying maths again! We owe these guys the biggest thankyou for helping our daughter and recommend it for any other parents who have kids struggling in maths. It is inexpensive and doesn't take a whole lot of time from your child to complete their weekly tasks. And there is rewards they can work towards! Take the step....you won't regret it!

We cannot praise Kinetic Education enough for their help.

Our daughter was struggling with a low grade in maths at the end of last year. We were concerned that she would fall further behind as she entered grade 4 this year. In December, we enrolled her in Kinetic Education to provide her with extra help before the new school year started. When we tested her, we discovered that she was significantly behind, still missing grade 2 concepts and barely understanding any year 3 material. She was clearly not ready to start grade 4 math. However, after a few months, her school teacher informed us that her understanding had greatly improved and her conference had grown. In just 6 months, she had progressed from a grade 2 comprehension level to where she needed to be for grade 4. We cannot praise Kinetic Education enough for their help.

He is so good at maths now he can do calculations quicker than me!

My son has dramatically improved with his English and Maths from Kinetic, he has caught up in his grade and gained confidence in his ability to learn. I strongly recommend this online learning program to any parent who has a child who is struggling at school, or simply wants to improve in their grade. My child has difficulty focusing in a classroom environment and this program fixes that issue. I get to spend one on one time with him learning together, he pays attention and actually enjoys his lessons. He is so good at maths now he can do calculations quicker than me! Definitely worth it!

Is Foundation a good time to start English tutoring?

Yes. Foundation is when letter sounds, blending and early reading really begin, so it's a helpful time to see how your child is going and build confidence early. Starting support now can help your child settle into reading and writing with less pressure later on.

What does a typical week look like for a Foundation student?

Your child's learning plan is updated with new English activities for the week. The lessons are designed to take around 15 to 20 minutes a day, short enough to fit around school and family life, but consistent enough to make a real difference over time. Your child works through their activities on a tablet or computer, at whatever time works best for your family. Each lesson includes clear explanations, examples and instant feedback. You'll also receive a weekly progress report so you can see exactly what they worked on and how they went.

What if my child is finding letters and sounds hard?

We check your child's English skills to understand where they may need more support and where they are ready to move ahead. From there, their personalised weekly learning plan is matched to their level, helping them strengthen key skills and build confidence as they continue through the curriculum.

What if my child is already reading confidently?

Kinetic Education can support children who are ready for extension too. If your child is confident with their current work, their personalised learning plan can move them into more challenging activities so they can keep progressing.

Will Foundation English help my child prepare for Year 1?

Yes. Foundation is about building the letter sound, blending and sight word foundations that Year 1 English builds on. We focus on making sure these early skills are solid, so your child can move into Year 1 with confidence.
