Assessment first

We start with an assessment to understand your child’s current maths level, identify any gaps in understanding across multiple year levels of the Australian Curriculum, and see where they are ready to move ahead. From there, we create a personalised weekly learning plan tailored to their needs.

Personalised Learning Plans

Your child’s personalised learning plan is delivered weekly and can be completed at home on a tablet or computer. Each Monday, new 20-minute maths lessons are added based on your child’s progress, helping keep learning at the right level and supporting a consistent learning routine.

Proven Progress

As your child strengthens their foundations, you’ll see them build skills and confidence in maths, and keep moving forward at a pace that feels right for them.

Expert Tutors Available

If your child needs extra support, our online maths tutors are there to explain concepts further and answer questions, so your child can continue with confidence.

Foundation Maths: What’s Covered and How We Help

Foundation maths focuses on helping children build confidence with early number, pattern, shape, measurement and everyday maths skills. The overview below shows some of the key areas your child begins working on during the year, and how Kinetic Education can support them. Every child starts from a different point, so we begin with an assessment and create a personalised learning plan based on their current level.

This means your child is always working through curriculum-aligned lessons, at a pace that suits them.

Area
What Foundation Maths Covers
How Kinetic Helps
Number and counting
Counting forwards and backwards, recognising numbers, matching numbers to groups of objects, comparing quantities and using words like more, less and same.
We find out what your child can already do and where they need more practice, then shape their weekly lessons to match.
Joining, separating and sharing
Combining small groups, taking objects away, sharing simple amounts and talking about what happens when groups change.
Each idea is built up in small, clear steps so your child can develop confidence with early number skills.
Patterns and sorting
Recognising, copying and continuing simple patterns, sorting objects by features such as colour, size or shape, and explaining what is the same or different.
Simple examples and interactive activities help your child practise noticing patterns, sorting information and explaining their thinking.
Shape and position
Naming and sorting everyday shapes, describing where objects are, and using position words such as above, below, beside, inside and next to.
Lessons use clear explanations and familiar examples to help your child build confidence with shapes, space and position.
Measurement
Comparing length, height, weight and capacity using everyday language such as longer, shorter, heavier, lighter, full and empty.
Everyday examples help measurement concepts make sense, with practice matched to your child’s level.
Time, data and everyday maths
Using time words such as morning, afternoon, yesterday and tomorrow, ordering simple events, sorting information and noticing maths in everyday routines.
Your child can practise early maths in a way that feels familiar and manageable, helping them build confidence before moving into more formal concepts.

Melanie

After years of struggling with maths, Melanie’s daughter boosted her grades and confidence in just a few months with Kinetic Education. She has made so much progress that her new teacher didn’t even realise she had struggled with maths in the past.

Louise

Louise’s daughters started the school year feeling anxious to go to class, worried they wouldn’t understand maths concepts. But in just 4 months, their confidence has grown, and they are now happy to go to maths classes at school. Not only this, but their school reports and grades have boosted, but most importantly their confidence has too!

Rosie

Rosie came to Kinetic Education looking for support for her two children, who both needed completely different support. Her daughter was really struggling with maths, and homework time was always stressful, while her son was one step ahead at school and starting to feel bored. With support from us, Rosie’s daughter is now able to work through new concepts confidently, and her son gets the challenges he needs to stay one step ahead.

Foundation Maths Tutoring Starts with Identifying Your Child’s Level

When your child gets started with Kinetic Education, their first step is completing our Maths Doctor assessment. This checks their maths skills across the Australian Curriculum, helping us understand how they are going with key areas.

The assessment takes up to 45 minutes and gives you a clear picture of their current skills, including where they may need more practice and where they are ready to move ahead. From there, we create a personalised weekly learning plan, so your child can work through the curriculum at the right pace for them.

Personalised learning

Every Monday, we update your child's learning plan with new maths activities for the week, selected based on their assessment results and progress. Your child’s learning plan is structured around three learning stages: Revision and Catch-Up, Consolidation, and Extension.

Revision and Catch-Up

When your child first starts with Kinetic Education, their learning plan begins with the early maths skills identified in their assessment. For Foundation students, this may include revisiting skills they have started learning at home, preschool or in other early learning environments, such as counting, recognising numbers, patterns, shapes and simple measurement language.

Consolidation

Once their early foundations are stronger, your child practises the skills being covered in Kindergarten maths. This may include counting, recognising numbers, joining and separating small groups, continuing patterns, naming shapes, using position words and exploring time, measurement and everyday maths.

Extension

When your child is feeling confident with Foundation maths, we give them the opportunity to gently move ahead while still working at a pace that suits them.

Real Maths Tutors for Foundation Students

Foundation is a big step for many families, as it is often where formal maths learning really begins. When your family joins Kinetic Education, you are matched with a tutor who helps your child get off to a strong start, while overseeing their personalised learning plan and keeping an eye on their progress each week. Each activity is designed to teach your child, give them instant feedback and help them build confidence as they move through the curriculum.

We also know that sometimes children need a little extra help or encouragement. That is where our maths tutors step in. If your child needs support with a Foundation maths concept, their tutor can guide them using screen sharing and a digital whiteboard, helping them understand the task and feel more confident tackling the next one on their own.

Our tutors are also here for parents. You can speak with your tutor about your child's learning needs, progress and weekly reports, so you know how they are going and what they are working on next.

Tutor support includes:

  • Tutor support available up to 10 hours per week, at no extra charge
  • Screen sharing and digital whiteboard support to help explain concepts clearly
  • Guidance for parents on progress, learning needs and weekly reports

We know that sometimes children don’t understand why they need to do extra maths work at home, and they might need a bit of extra motivation. That’s why every child enrolled with us gets to experience our unique rewards system.

Here’s how it works: your child earns points after every maths activity, which they can save up and swap for real rewards like Smiggle, Myer, and WISH gift cards.

Take the step....you won't regret it!

My 11 year old daughter was struggling with maths, until this program came along. I honestly didn't realise how far she had fallen behind until we did the assessment through Kinetic....my year 6 student had been slipping through the cracks since grade 3! But since being with Kinetic Education, she has been striving forward and actually enjoying maths again! We owe these guys the biggest thankyou for helping our daughter and recommend it for any other parents who have kids struggling in maths. It is inexpensive and doesn't take a whole lot of time from your child to complete their weekly tasks. And there is rewards they can work towards! Take the step....you won't regret it!

We cannot praise Kinetic Education enough for their help.

Our daughter was struggling with a low grade in maths at the end of last year. We were concerned that she would fall further behind as she entered grade 4 this year. In December, we enrolled her in Kinetic Education to provide her with extra help before the new school year started. When we tested her, we discovered that she was significantly behind, still missing grade 2 concepts and barely understanding any year 3 material. She was clearly not ready to start grade 4 math. However, after a few months, her school teacher informed us that her understanding had greatly improved and her conference had grown. In just 6 months, she had progressed from a grade 2 comprehension level to where she needed to be for grade 4. We cannot praise Kinetic Education enough for their help.

He is so good at maths now he can do calculations quicker than me!

My son has dramatically improved with his English and Maths from Kinetic, he has caught up in his grade and gained confidence in his ability to learn. I strongly recommend this online learning program to any parent who has a child who is struggling at school, or simply wants to improve in their grade. My child has difficulty focusing in a classroom environment and this program fixes that issue. I get to spend one on one time with him learning together, he pays attention and actually enjoys his lessons. He is so good at maths now he can do calculations quicker than me! Definitely worth it!
