When will the NAPLAN year 5 tests be held in 2025?

The year 5 NAPLAN test window in 2025 is from Wednesday 12 March to Monday 24 March. During this period, students across Australia in year 5 will participate in the standardised tests to assess their skills in literacy and numeracy.

What is a good Year 5 NAPLAN test score?

There is no pass or fail mark for the NAPLAN test in year 5. However, each student is given a raw score and a national percentile ranking. A raw score is the number of questions answered correctly. A percentile ranking shows how your child performed compared to other students nationwide who sat the test.

For example, if your child scored in the 80th percentile, this means that they scored better than or equal to 80% of other students who took the test.

What happens if my year 5 child scores below the national minimum standard?

The NAPLAN test does not have a pass or fail mark. Instead, students receive a raw score and a national percentile ranking. The raw score indicates the number of questions answered correctly, while the percentile ranking indicates how well a student performed in comparison to other students across the country who also took the test. Practicing with year 5 NAPLAN practice tests can help your child achieve a good score. Kinetic Education's Maths and English tutoring programs can help your child be more confident and successful with NAPLAN and with school in general.
