What made you look into tutoring for Lily?

Lily’s teachers first started noticing she was struggling with maths in Year 2, and by Year 3, those challenges became much more obvious. After Lily didn’t pass Year 3 maths, Melanie knew it was time to look for extra support before she moved into Year 4.

For Lily, it wasn’t that she couldn’t understand the questions in maths. It was more that she didn’t understand the strategies needed to solve the problems. That left her feeling stressed, and she would often end up guessing the answers.

Melanie’s goal wasn’t for Lily to get straight A’s. She just wanted Lily to feel confident and enjoy learning.

How Did You First Come Across Kinetic Education?

Melanie first started looking into face-to-face tutoring, but like a lot of parents, she was worried about how it would actually fit into their afternoons after school.

After a bit of Googling, she came across Kinetic Education and realised online support made more sense for their family than face-to-face tutoring.

They didn’t have to worry about working tutoring around Lily’s extracurriculars, travelling to lessons, or organising a time for a tutor to come to their house.

With Kinetic Education, Lily could get the personalised support she needed in a way that worked around their normal routine.

How Kinetic Education Supports Learning From Home

Learning from home can make extra support feel much easier for busy families. With Kinetic Education, children can complete their personalised learning plan at home, without needing to rush to face-to-face tutoring appointments.

Each week, they receive maths and English activities matched to their level, with tutor support available if they need help. This means your child can keep making progress, while learning fits more easily into family life.

Assessment First

We begin with an assessment to understand where your child's learning currently is and identify any gaps that may be holding them back. From here, we create a personalised weekly learning plan tailored to your child's needs.

Personalised Learning Plans

Your child’s personalised lesson plan is delivered weekly and can be completed at home on a tablet or computer. It updates each Monday and adapts as they progress, keeping learning at the right level.

Proven Progress

As your child strengthens their foundations, you’ll see them build skills and confidence, and keep moving forward at a pace that feels right for them.

Expert Tutors Available

If your child needs extra support, our online tutors are there to explain concepts further and answer questions, so your child can continue with confidence.

Did you feel supported and informed before getting started?

Before getting started, Melanie had the chance to speak with the Kinetic Education team and talk through where Lily was at, what support she needed, and how the platform worked.

Our team explained the assessment, lessons, rewards and tutor support, so Melanie could understand what to expect before Lily began.

For Melanie, understanding how the assessment worked was really important. It showed her how Kinetic Education would find and address any gaps in Lily’s learning, then personalise her lessons based on what she needed.

That process helped Melanie feel confident that Kinetic Education would be a good fit for Lily before they even got started.

What Stood Out During the Assessments?

Melanie had already noticed that Lily had gaps in her learning, so the assessment helped make those gaps clearer. Once Lily was assessed across the Australian Curriculum and her learning was personalised to what she needed, she was able to pick things up quite quickly.

What also stood out to Melanie was how interactive and engaging the assessment and activities were. Lily actually enjoyed the learning, which helped her absorb the information rather than feeling overwhelmed by it.

In Lily’s second assessment, she was tested on Year 5 concepts. For Melanie, it was reassuring to see that Lily already had a solid understanding of some of those areas, giving her peace of mind as Lily prepared for the year ahead.

How Our Assessment Works

When your child starts with Kinetic Education, we assess them across key areas of the Australian Curriculum to understand where their learning currently sits. From there, we provide a clear report that helps you see what they have already achieved, where support may be needed, and what they are ready to work on next.

What Stands Out Most About Lily’s Progress in Maths?

A huge accomplishment for Lily was her first parent-teacher meeting in Year 4. Her teacher didn’t even realise Lily had struggled with maths in the past because she was doing so well.

In Year 2 and Year 3, Lily had been part of a small maths group for extra support. By Year 4, she didn’t need that support anymore.

But for Melanie, the biggest change has been Lily’s confidence. She went from doubting herself and feeling unsure in maths, to coming home excited to tell Melanie what she had learned.

Now, Lily feels much more confident and positive about maths!

How has Lily found adding English alongside maths?

Lily originally started with maths support, but they later added English support for her as well. Even when a child is doing well, adding another subject can be a great way to see where they might need extra support or where they’re ready to be extended.

For Lily, adding English gave Kinetic Education another opportunity to support her learning and help her keep moving forward. Like so many children, Lily had great ideas for writing tasks like narratives and persuasives, but needed support getting those ideas down on paper and building stronger sentence structure.

Her tutor was able to work with the family to make sure Lily’s learning stayed focused on what she needed most, with maths remaining the main priority while still adding in a little English each week.

What Does Lily Like Spending Her Rewards On?

For each activity she completes, Lily earns points that can be used on gift cards for places like Smiggle, Wish and Myer, or donated to the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

Lily loves using her gift cards to buy clothes from Myer.

Real rewards like this help motivate children because they’re working towards something that actually means something to them.

What would you say to a parent considering Kinetic Education?

Melanie’s advice is simple: book that first phone call and have a chat with the team.

It’s okay if you don’t fully understand everything from the website. That’s exactly what our team is there for, to talk you through how Kinetic Education works, what options are available, and what might suit your child best.

That first call is a chance to ask questions, explain where your child is at, and get a clearer idea of whether Kinetic Education is the right fit for your family.

We're glad to have found them.

Kinetic Education became our life saver after an extended oversea travel which left my children bereft of Australian curriculum. Few months into the program, they were able to bounce back and in time for their Naplan. Graeme sent some Naplan prep tests ahead of Naplan. The tutors always called to check, the reports always on time, and the live support, excellent. Btw, Naplan results are just out and they excelled!

Within 3 months we can see the difference.

We found Kinetic online and went with it as this was the only platform which knew about kids on ASD High functioning activities. My son and Daughter got on the program and within 3 months we can see the difference where both of them had no difficulty doing their NAPLAN this year. Its 15 minutes a day gives the children an edge at school. Communication is great with regular calls and checkups from tutor and admin. Highly recommend.

We couldn’t be happier with how the kids are progressing.

We couldn’t be happier with how the kids are progressing. We’ve seen our daughter (who was really struggling with maths and English start to enjoy learning again. The team at kinetic education are so attentive and in tune with how the kids are learning, adjusting the weekly lessons to balance confidence and progression. This years NAPLAN result has been so encouraging and I think it comes from the confidence she’s developed from kinetic. Our son, who loves learning is being consistently challenged and we have watched his learning surpass his year level! It’s so nice to be able to get a handle on how the kids are going with their education.
