We start with an assessment to understand your child’s current maths level, identify any gaps in understanding across multiple year levels of the Australian Curriculum, and see where they are ready to move ahead. From there, we create a personalised weekly learning plan tailored to their needs.
Your child’s personalised learning plan is delivered weekly and can be completed at home on a tablet or computer. Each Monday, new 20-minute maths lessons are added based on your child’s progress, helping keep learning at the right level and supporting a consistent learning routine.

When your child gets started with Kinetic Education, their first step is completing our Maths Doctor assessment. This checks their maths skills across multiple year levels of the Australian Curriculum, including number knowledge, skip counting, times tables, multiplication, division, factors and multiples.
The assessment helps us understand their current skills, identify any earlier gaps that may be affecting their times table recall or making multiplication more difficult, and see where they are ready to move ahead.
It takes up to 45 minutes and gives us a clear starting point for your child’s personalised weekly learning plan. From there, we can strengthen the right foundations while helping them apply their times tables and multiplication skills across more advanced areas of maths at a pace that suits them.
At Kinetic Education, algebra concepts are included in your child’s personalised learning plan from the very beginning, as part of their maths support aligned to the Australian Curriculum. Here is how it works:
Every Monday, we update your child’s learning plan with new maths activities for the week, selected around their assessment results and progress. Their learning plan moves through three stages: Revision and Catch-Up, Consolidation, and Extension.
When your child first starts with Kinetic Education, their learning plan targets the knowledge gaps identified in their assessment. This may mean revisiting earlier multiplication facts, skip counting or number patterns and strengthening the foundations they need before moving into more complex times tables work.
As your child’s understanding and recall improve, their learning plan helps them use multiplication in different ways. They practise facts in mixed order and apply them to division, larger numbers, fractions, decimals and problem-solving questions, helping the skills become more confident and automatic.
When your child is ready to move ahead, their learning plan introduces more advanced uses of multiplication across the curriculum. This may include ratios, rates, indices, algebra and scientific notation, helping them apply strong multiplication skills to increasingly complex questions.

Children begin building the foundations for multiplication in the early years through equal groups, skip counting, doubling, sharing and arrays. Most children then build their multiplication facts more formally across Years 3 and 4, working towards quick recall of tables up to 10 × 10 by the end of Year 4.
Children develop at different paces, so some need more time and practice to make sure their foundations are strong. They may also need the chance to go back, revisit earlier skills and strengthen their understanding, which is where Kinetic Education can help.

Not at all. The assessment finds where the gap began, often in Year 3 or 4, and the learning plan rebuilds those facts with the understanding behind them. Many of our students close this gap in a single term.
