Our Year 3 maths support is designed to meet your child at the right level, whether they need help with number facts, fractions, problem solving, measurement or geometry. Their personalised learning plan helps them strengthen key skills, build confidence and keep moving forward at a pace that works for them. For children who are ready for more, learning can extend one step ahead, while still keeping the pace right for them.
We start with an assessment to understand your child’s current maths level, identify any gaps in understanding across multiple year levels of the Australian Curriculum, and see where they are ready to move ahead. From there, we create a personalised weekly learning plan tailored to their needs.
Your child’s personalised learning plan is delivered weekly and can be completed at home on a tablet or computer. Each Monday, new 20-minute maths lessons are added based on your child’s progress, helping keep learning at the right level and supporting a consistent learning routine.
As your child strengthens their foundations, you’ll see them build skills and confidence in maths, and keep moving forward at a pace that feels right for them.
If your child needs extra support, our online maths tutors are there to explain concepts further and answer questions, so your child can continue with confidence.
When your child gets started with Kinetic Education, their first step is completing our Maths Doctor assessment. This checks their maths skills across multiple year levels of the Australian Curriculum, helping us understand how they are going with key areas such as number skills, fractions, problem solving, measurement and geometry.
The assessment takes up to 45 minutes and gives you a clear picture of their current skills, including where they may need more practice and where they are ready to move ahead. From there, we create a personalised weekly learning plan, so your child can work through the curriculum at the right pace for them.
Every Monday, we update your child's learning plan with new maths activities for the week, selected based on their assessment results and progress. Your child’s learning plan is structured around three learning stages: Revision and Catch-Up, Consolidation, and Extension.
When your child first starts with Kinetic Education, their learning plan targets the knowledge gaps identified in their assessment. For Year 3 students, this may include revisiting earlier number skills, place value, addition, subtraction or the early multiplication concepts they need before moving into more complex work.
Consolidation
Once their foundations are stronger, your child practises the skills being covered in Year 3 maths. This may include multiplication and division facts, fractions, measurement, geometry and problem solving.
When your child is feeling confident in Year 3 maths, we give them the opportunity to move one step ahead, including working beyond their current year level while still moving at a pace that works for them.
Year 3 can be a big year for many families, especially with NAPLAN introduced for the first time. When your family joins Kinetic Education, you are matched with a tutor who helps your child get off to a strong start, while overseeing their personalised learning plan and keeping an eye on their progress each week. Each activity is designed to teach your child, give them instant feedback and help them build confidence as they move through the curriculum.
We also know that sometimes children need a little extra help or encouragement. That is where our maths tutors step in. If your child needs support with a Year 3 maths concept, their tutor can guide them using screen sharing and a digital whiteboard, helping them understand the task and feel more confident tackling the next one on their own.

I have my two 8 year old daughters (grade 3) using the tutoring program with Kinetic Education and while they are both similar in their needs, each of their programs are individually suited. The work is just tricky enough to allow them to further their knowledge and development in the areas that they need help with, yet not so hard that they feel deflated because they can't do it. My girls feel confident doing their lessons and can do them quite independently. They are also seeing the similarities from the tutoring lessons to those that they are doing in class. This online tutoring program allows for families to be able to work your child's tutoring into busy schedules, doing them at their own pace. The tutors are always available if extra help is needed and they consitently follow up with families about your child's progress and needs.

My son was falling behind in English half way through grade 3 when we started Kinetic - I chose to do both English and maths so it wouldn’t be too difficult to get him to do the work. The reward system is amazing and so motivating. He comes home every night and does Kinetic before his school homework as is so engaging and I don't have to do a thing as tutors and the program guides the learning so well. My son is now about to start grade 5 work in English and feels so much more confident at school and is so proud of himself and we only started the program one year ago. Your child works through their activities on a tablet or computer, at whatever time works best for your family. Each lesson includes clear explanations, examples and instant feedback, so your child isn't just practising, they're learning as they go.
If they get stuck on something, they can contact their tutor for support after school Monday to Thursday. You'll also receive a weekly progress report so you can see exactly what they worked on and how they went.
