How We Help Your Year 11 Child Feel Confident in Maths

Our Year 11 maths support meets your child wherever they are in their senior pathway, whether that is Essential, General, Mathematical Methods or Specialist Mathematics. • Struggling with maths
  • Building confidence
  • Ready for extension
  • Neurodiverse
  • Learning from home
  • Preparing for NAPLAN and exams

Assessment first

We start with an assessment to understand your child’s current maths level, identify any gaps in understanding across multiple year levels of the Australian Curriculum, and see where they are ready to move ahead. From there, we create a personalised weekly learning plan tailored to their needs.

Personalised Learning Plans

Your child’s personalised learning plan is delivered weekly and can be completed at home on a tablet or computer. Each Monday, new 20-minute maths lessons are added based on your child’s progress, helping keep learning at the right level and supporting a consistent learning routine.

Proven Progress

As your child strengthens their foundations, you’ll see them build skills and confidence in maths, and keep moving forward at a pace that feels right for them.

Expert Tutors Available

If your child needs extra support, our online maths tutors are there to explain concepts further and answer questions, so your child can continue with confidence.

Year 11 Maths: The Senior Pathways and How We Help

In Year 11, maths branches into the senior secondary pathways of the Australian Curriculum. The overview below shows the main pathways and how Kinetic Education can support your child with each. Exactly what your child studies depends on the subject they have chosen and their goals.

Whichever pathway they are on, support is focused on the topics they find most challenging, while helping them keep moving alongside school.

Pathway
What This Pathway Covers
How Kinetic Helps
Essential Mathematics
Everyday, applied maths for work and life, including money and financial maths, measurement, ratios and rates, and interpreting data. A practical pathway for students not heading into maths-heavy study.
Practical topics are connected to real situations, with clear explanations and practice that helps your child build confidence using maths in everyday contexts.
General Mathematics
Consumer arithmetic, algebra and matrices, shape and measurement, univariate data, linear graphs and applications of trigonometry. A broad applied pathway for further study and decision making.
Each topic is broken into clear steps, helping your child strengthen key skills across General Mathematics and feel more confident applying them.
Mathematical Methods
Functions and graphs, trigonometric and exponential functions, counting and probability, sequences and series, and an introduction to calculus. The pathway for science, engineering, commerce and many university courses.
More challenging concepts like functions, calculus and probability are supported with step-by-step explanations, guided practice and help when ideas become more complex.
Specialist Mathematics
Combinatorics, vectors, geometry and proof, matrices, and real and complex numbers. Taken alongside Mathematical Methods, for students aiming at the most maths-intensive pathways.
Advanced topics are approached carefully and clearly, helping your child work through demanding concepts such as proofs, vectors, matrices and complex numbers.

Melanie

After years of struggling with maths, Melanie’s daughter boosted her grades and confidence in just a few months with Kinetic Education. She has made so much progress that her new teacher didn’t even realise she had struggled with maths in the past.

Louise

Louise’s daughters started the school year feeling anxious to go to class, worried they wouldn’t understand maths concepts. But in just 4 months, their confidence has grown, and they are now happy to go to maths classes at school. Not only this, but their school reports and grades have boosted, but most importantly their confidence has too!

Rosie

Rosie came to Kinetic Education looking for support for her two children, who both needed completely different support. Her daughter was really struggling with maths, and homework time was always stressful, while her son was one step ahead at school and starting to feel bored. With support from us, Rosie’s daughter is now able to work through new concepts confidently, and her son gets the challenges he needs to stay one step ahead.

Year 11 Maths Tutoring Starts with Identifying Your Child’s Level

When your child gets started with Kinetic Education, we focus on understanding which senior pathway they are taking and which topics they need support with, so their tutoring is targeted where it helps most.

From there, we build support around their current topics and the foundations those topics rely on, so your child can work through the curriculum with more confidence at a pace that suits them.

Personalised learning

Every Monday, we update your child's learning plan with new maths activities for the week, selected based on their assessment results and progress. Your child's learning plan is structured around three learning stages: Revision and Catch-Up, Consolidation, and Extension.

Revision and Catch-Up

When your child first starts with Kinetic Education, their learning plan targets the knowledge gaps identified in their assessment. For Year 11 students, this may include revisiting earlier number skills, algebra, equations, graphing, trigonometry, fractions, decimals, percentages or measurement before moving into more complex senior maths.

Consolidation

Once their foundations are stronger, your child practises the skills being covered in their Year 11 maths pathway. This may include practical maths, financial maths, algebra, matrices, functions, graphs, probability, calculus, vectors or proof, depending on the subject they are studying.

Extension

When your child is feeling confident in Year 11 maths, we give them the opportunity to move ahead while still working at a pace that suits them.

Real Maths Tutors for Year 11 Students

Year 11 is where senior maths steps up, and the right support can make a real difference. When your family joins Kinetic Education, you are matched with a tutor who supports your child through their senior pathway, working with them on the topics they find most challenging and keeping an eye on their progress. Each session is designed to build understanding and confidence, not just get to an answer.

We also know that senior maths can be demanding. If your child is stuck on a concept, their tutor can guide them using screen sharing and a digital whiteboard, helping them understand the method and feel more confident applying it on their own.

Our tutors are also here for parents. You can speak with your tutor about your child's progress and the topics they are working on, so you know how they are going.

Tutor support includes:

  • Tutor support available up to 10 hours per week, at no extra charge
  • Screen sharing and digital whiteboard support to help explain concepts clearly
  • Guidance for parents on progress and learning needs

After each maths activity, your child earns points that can be saved up and swapped for real rewards like Myer, WISH and Smiggle gift cards.

Give Your Child the Support They Need to Feel Confident in Maths

When students are finding senior maths hard, it can affect more than their schoolwork. It can shake their confidence and willingness to keep going.

Kinetic Education helps students build confidence by supporting them through the topics they find challenging and strengthening the foundations those topics rely on. With tutor support built around their pathway, your child can feel more capable as they work through Year 11 and towards their final year.

To be able to complete the tasks in her own time showed maturity and growth.

My year 7 struggled with transitioning to math. We started using Kinetics in term 2. She showed gaps from grade 4. She loves this tutoring system. To be able to complete the tasks in her own time showed maturity and growth. Their correspondence is amazing. She is now up to year 7/8 and is feeling very confident. And the pricing is amazing. A++++ here

Not even a year into starting Kinetic and she has already caught up to her year level and learning so much.

We started the program with my daughter who is in year 7. When she first started she had gaps all the way back to grade 4 with her mathematics. Not even a year into starting Kinetic and she has already caught up to her year level and learning so much. The tutors are extremely friendly and accommodating when you need them and the staff also check in with phone calls to see how she’s enjoying and doing with the program. Definitely glad we joined Kinetic and can’t recommend them highly enough.

I am using it with all of my children and have found it to be a wonderful program for children who have just started primary school as well as those in high school.

We have been so happy with Kinetic Education. I am using it with all of my children and have found it to be a wonderful program for children who have just started primary school as well as those in high school. The tutors have been incredibly encouraging, providing clear explanations helping my children make sense of complex material. Kinetic Education tutors always check in to make sure we are satisfied and to provide feedback on how each of my children are progressing. I can reduce or increase the workload at anytime and the activities can be made more difficult or more easy to ensure they are at just the right level for each child. Just this morning my daughter who has just started high school said 'what we were learning in maths today I have already covered it in Kinetic Education so it all made sense and I was even able to help my friends'. The best feedback from someone who a year ago had very little confidence with maths and just felt it was a subject she was no good at.

I highly recommend it to other parents looking for quality academic support for their children.

Kinetic Education has been a fantastic study support resource for my daughter since Year 9, and it has continued to provide excellent assistance through yr 11. The structured yet flexible program ensures that students can work at their own pace while still covering all necessary content. The progress tracking and regular feedback have also been invaluable in keeping us informed about her improvements and areas that need more focus. Overall, Kinetic Education has been an excellent investment in my daughter's education, and I highly recommend it to other parents looking for quality academic support for their children.

Year 11 Maths Tutoring FAQs

Which senior maths pathway is right for my child?

It depends on their goals. Essential and General Mathematics suit students who want practical, applied maths, while Mathematical Methods is the pathway for many university courses in science, engineering and commerce, and Specialist Mathematics is taken alongside Methods for the most maths-intensive pathways. Your child's school is the best place to confirm subject selection, and we can support them whichever pathway they choose.

What does a typical week look like for a Year 11 student?

Your child studies their senior maths at school, and we focus our support on the topics they find challenging. They can work through activities and reach their tutor for help when they get stuck, with support after school Monday to Thursday. The aim is to keep them moving forward with understanding and confidence, at a pace that works alongside their school workload.

Can you support Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics?

Yes. Our tutors support students across the senior pathways, including the more demanding topics in Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics, working through functions, calculus, vectors, complex numbers and proof step by step.

My child is finding the jump to senior maths hard. Can you help?

Yes. The step up from Year 10 to senior maths is a common challenge. We strengthen the Year 10 foundations the senior topics rely on, so the new content makes more sense and your child can keep up with confidence.

Do you support students across different states and syllabuses?

Yes. Our tutoring focuses on the underlying Australian Curriculum senior mathematics, supporting students across states, with tutors who help with the specific topics your child is studying.
