Understanding ADHD

Supporting a child with ADHD at school can feel confusing and overwhelming, especially when it seems like they’re trying but still struggling. It isn’t a matter of trying harder, and it’s certainly not laziness. It’s simply the way their brains have developed.

They may be easily distracted, especially in busy or noisy environments. Sometimes, instructions from the teacher are too long or overwhelming, making it tricky to remember and follow through. Others may struggle with executive functioning, which is common in children with ADHD, like planning, organising, or completing tasks.

These are just some of the challenges they may face. As a result, it’s easy for them to miss key information in class. When this happens in small bits over time, it can quietly create gaps in their learning. These gaps can make it harder for children to keep up, as new concepts at school often build on ones they didn’t fully grasp.

How Kinetic Education Supports Children with ADHD

At Kinetic Education, we make learning feel less overwhelming and more manageable. With short, personalised lessons and real tutor guidance, we help turn everyday challenges into small wins that build lasting confidence.

Through our online Maths Wiz and English Wiz platforms, your child follows a personalised plan tailored to their needs. With flexible pacing, visual prompts, and strategies to support focus and motivation, they can learn in a way that suits them best and feel proud of their progress.

Struggling to focus

What this can look like:

Your child may lose concentration quickly, especially during longer tasks or when instructions aren’t clear. They might rush through activities or disengage before finishing the task.

How we help:

We keep sessions short, just 20 minutes, so your child can start and finish without feeling overwhelmed. Our clear, step-by-step lessons include visuals, audio, and animations. Interactive tools and immediate feedback help boost engagement and reinforce understanding. Some children benefit from even shorter sessions, so we encourage families to break lessons into smaller chunks if needed. Two 10-minute bursts might work better than one longer stretch. Your tutor will help guide that process.

Inconsistent academic performance

What this can look like:

Even with effort, your child’s progress may feel slow or unpredictable. Some days things come easily; other days feel harder, and it’s difficult to see steady improvement.

How we help:

Our free assessment identifies any gaps in your child’s learning. From there, we build a personalised learning plan that targets what they need most using explicit instruction. This supports consistent growth at their own pace.

Low academic confidence

What this can look like:

Your child may avoid certain tasks, say things like “I’m not good at this,” or need reassurance before getting started. Over time, this can affect how they see themselves as learners.

How we help:

We set clear, achievable goals to reduce overwhelm and help your child feel capable. With real-time feedback and a points-based reward system, your child sees progress in action. This builds motivation and self-belief with every win. We focus on effort as much as outcomes. Whether your child finishes a lesson or simply tries something new, that progress is worth celebrating.

Difficulty with instructions

What this can look like:

Your child may struggle to follow multi-step or verbal instructions. They might ask for help often, not because they’re not paying attention, but because the information wasn’t delivered in a way they understand.

How we help:

Instructions are broken down clearly using visual supports, audio prompts, and step-by-step guidance. If your child needs extra support, their tutor can walk them through tasks using screen share, offering one-on-one guidance that builds understanding without added stress.

Tired, overwhelmed, or low executive function after school

What this can look like:

After a full school day, your child may feel drained or find it hard to get started on more learning. Some children need more flexibility in when and how they learn. Fixed times can add unnecessary pressure.

How we help:

Our learning is flexible. Your child can log in when it suits them before school, after dinner, or in short bursts throughout the week. There’s no rigid schedule, just support that works with their rhythm.

Previous support hasn't been the right fit

What this can look like:

Support in the past may not have matched your child’s needs, pace, or learning style. That can leave them feeling frustrated or disheartened.

How we help:

We adapt to how children with ADHD learn best. With short sessions, personalised content, scaffolded learning, one-on-one tutor support, and real rewards, we create a learning experience that truly fits.

Learning that’s personalised to your child’s needs

Every child starts with an online assessment so we can understand where they’re at and how they learn best. From there, we create a personalised learning plan that builds skills gradually, fills gaps, and supports steady progress in Maths and English.

Short lessons that feel achievable

Lessons are short and flexible, taking around 20 minutes, which helps children stay engaged and feel confident. Your child can learn when it suits your family, with the flexibility to learn before school, after dinner, or on weekends.

Tools that support how your child learns

Lessons use a mix of visuals, audio, interactive activities, and guided practice to support understanding across Maths and English.

Tutor support that’s steady and responsive

Whether your child needs a confidence boost, extra explanation, or help when they’re stuck, tutor support is easy to access and tailored to how they learn for up to 10 hours each week.

A focus on confidence, not perfection

We celebrate effort and progress, not just correct answers. As children complete lessons, they earn points and recognition that help build confidence through small, meaningful wins.

Clear weekly updates for families

Each week, you’ll receive a simple progress summary showing what your child has worked on, what’s coming next, and how they’re tracking. It keeps you informed without adding extra pressure.

Better and better!

My son, Chase (12 yrs), was diagnosed with autism and adhd at 6 yrs of age. Schooling has been difficult, as he has changed school a few times (at no fault of his own), and some schools have not been forthcoming with assistance and patience. This has resulted in low self-esteem for Chase, a lack of friendships due to self-doubt and an inability to find patience with himself and others. Since starting Kinetic Education, about 4 months ago, Chase has not only grown in self-esteem and patience, but he has also grown in his interactions and friendships with those he is around. Even while Kinetic Education has the incentives to inspire a child to learn, ie; points, extra learning, games and prizes, this is not the main part Chase enjoys.... It's the end of each section when he sees how well he has done, that makes it worth while. The smile and squeal of excitement displayed, makes it so very worth it. Kinetic Education is a service I will always be grateful for, and glad to know.

Kinetic Education is a fantastic tutoring service.

Kinetic Education is a fantastic tutoring service. I have 2 boys (year 5 and 7) who need help with their Math and English. My eldest has autism and my youngest has ADHD. The Kinetic Education program is very well designed for all children and ages. Their tutors are exceptional, friendly and always happy to help. The fees are very reasonable and actually affordable. So worth it!

I would encourage everyone to utilise this very affordable and fun tutoring option!

My children (6&7) have been using kinetic education for the last 6 months and are absolutely thriving. My ADHD diagnosed 7 year old has gone from thinking she was so far behind in year One, with very low self confidence, to now already understanding 50% of next years curriculum. And has even been helping her friends at school. Her confidence and happiness at school is so worth it, and I would encourage everyone to utilise this very affordable and fun tutoring option!

Kinetic Education has been wonderful for our 13 yo son with ADHD.

The lessons are set at exactly the right level for him - challenging without being crazy hard, or too easy. He loves the satisfaction and sense of achievement he gets finishing the lesson plans each week. We are so happy to see him progressing and gaining confidence. I would recommend Kinetic Education to anyone with kids who need tutoring! 5 stars!

Common Questions About Our ADHD Learning Support

My child has trouble focusing. Won’t they struggle with learning on a screen?

It’s a valid concern. But unlike long school days or in-person tutoring, our lessons are short, interactive, and built to support focus. With just 20-minute sessions, many children feel less pressure and more confidence.

Is in-person tutoring better for ADHD?

Not always. In-person sessions after school can feel overwhelming. Our flexible approach lets your child learn when they’re ready and take breaks when needed. That flexibility can make a big difference.

How does my child actually learn?

Your child starts with a free assessment. Then they follow a personalised plan with 20-minute lessons at home, using animations, audio prompts, step-by-step instructions, and interactive activities.

Is there tutor support?

Yes. Tutors are available to explain tricky concepts, answer questions, or provide encouragement. Your child can message their tutor directly. Support is ongoing and designed to reduce pressure.

What if they need help mid-lesson?

Every lesson includes hints, audio instructions, and visual guidance. If your child still needs help, a tutor can step in and demonstrate using screen sharing. We never leave children stuck.

Will this work if my child avoids schoolwork?

Yes. Our system is designed to be low-pressure and reward-focused. Lessons are short, and children learn in small, manageable steps that feel achievable.

Will I get updates on how they’re going?

Absolutely. You’ll receive a weekly report showing what they’ve completed, how they’re progressing, and what’s next. If you need more detail, your tutor is always available.

What if other tutoring hasn’t worked?

Many families come to us after trying other options. Traditional tutoring often doesn’t match how ADHD learners think. We adapt to your child’s needs and learning style, not the other way around.

What if my child gets frustrated or gives up easily?

We get it. Many children with ADHD have faced pressure or criticism in learning environments. Our lessons are non-judgemental, supportive, and flexible. Children can go at their own pace, take breaks, and try again without fear. We focus on small wins and building pride in what they can do.
