Supporting a Student with ADHD

Supporting a child with ADHD at school can feel confusing and overwhelming, especially when it seems like they’re trying but still struggling. It isn’t a matter of trying harder, and it’s certainly not laziness — it’s simply the way their brains have developed.

They may be easily distracted, especially in busy or noisy environments. Sometimes, instructions from the teacher are too long or overwhelming, making it tricky to remember and follow through. Others may struggle with executive functioning, which is common in children with ADHD, like planning, organising, or completing tasks.

These are just some of the challenges they may face. As a result, it’s easy for them to miss key information in class. When this happens in small bits over time, it can quietly create gaps in their learning. These gaps can make it harder for children to keep up, as new concepts at school often build on ones they didn’t fully grasp.

How Kinetic Education Supports Children with ADHD

At Kinetic Education, we make learning feel less overwhelming and more manageable. With short, personalised lessons and real tutor guidance, we help turn everyday challenges into small wins that build lasting confidence.

Through our online Maths Wiz and English Wiz platforms, your child follows a personalised plan tailored to their needs. With flexible pacing, visual prompts, and strategies to support focus and motivation, they can learn in a way that suits them best and feel proud of their progress.

Struggling to focus

What this can look like:

Your child may lose concentration quickly, especially during longer tasks or when instructions aren’t clear. They might rush through activities or disengage before finishing the task.

How we help:

We keep sessions short, just 20 minutes, so your child can start and finish without feeling overwhelmed. Our clear, step-by-step lessons include visuals, audio, and animations. Interactive tools and immediate feedback help boost engagement and reinforce understanding. Some children benefit from even shorter sessions, so we encourage families to break lessons into smaller chunks if needed. Two 10-minute bursts might work better than one longer stretch. Your tutor will help guide that process.

Inconsistent academic performance

What this can look like:

Even with effort, your child’s progress may feel slow or unpredictable. Some days things come easily; other days feel harder, and it’s difficult to see steady improvement.

How we help:

Our free assessment identifies any gaps in your child’s learning. From there, we build a personalised learning plan that targets what they need most using explicit instruction. This supports consistent growth at their own pace.

Low academic confidence

What this can look like:

Your child may avoid certain tasks, say things like “I’m not good at this,” or need reassurance before getting started. Over time, this can affect how they see themselves as learners.

How we help:

We set clear, achievable goals to reduce overwhelm and help your child feel capable. With real-time feedback and a points-based reward system, your child sees progress in action. This builds motivation and self-belief with every win. We focus on effort as much as outcomes. Whether your child finishes a lesson or simply tries something new, that progress is worth celebrating.

Difficulty with instructions

What this can look like:

Your child may struggle to follow multi-step or verbal instructions. They might ask for help often, not because they’re not paying attention, but because the information wasn’t delivered in a way they understand.

How we help:

Instructions are broken down clearly using visual supports, audio prompts, and step-by-step guidance. If your child needs extra support, their tutor can walk them through tasks using screen share, offering one-on-one guidance that builds understanding without added stress.

Tired, overwhelmed, or low executive function after school

What this can look like:

After a full school day, your child may feel drained or find it hard to get started on more learning. Some children need more flexibility in when and how they learn. Fixed times can add unnecessary pressure.

How we help:

Our learning is flexible. Your child can log in when it suits them before school, after dinner, or in short bursts throughout the week. There’s no rigid schedule, just support that works with their rhythm.

Previous support hasn’t been the right fit

What this can look like:

Support in the past may not have matched your child’s needs, pace, or learning style. That can leave them feeling frustrated or disheartened.

How we help:

We adapt to how children with ADHD learn best. With short sessions, personalised content, scaffolded learning, one-on-one tutor support, and real rewards, we create a learning experience that truly fits.

Why Families Trust Us to Support Their Child with ADHD

  • Personalised learning that meets your child where they’re at

Every child begins with an assessment so we can understand what they’ve missed and what they’re ready for. From there, we tailor a plan focused on filling gaps and moving forward with confidence.

  • Short, focused lessons that reduce overwhelm

Our 20-minute sessions help your child stay focused and complete tasks with confidence.

  • Flexible learning that fits your family

Learning can happen anytime: before school, after dinner, or on weekends, in short bursts. There’s no rigid timetable — just flexibility that works for your schedule.

  • Real tutor support, when it’s needed

Tutors are available to answer questions or provide encouragement. They pay attention to signs that something’s too hard or too easy and adjust lessons as needed. We also work closely with parents and caregivers to tailor support.

  • Multisensory tools that support engagement

We use animations, audio prompts, step-by-step guides, and multiple response options so your child can learn in a way that makes sense to them.

  • Motivation through real rewards

Our point system turns effort into something children can feel proud of. They earn points to exchange for real rewards. Families can build on this at home with extra incentives that match their routines.

  • Confidence through progress, not pressure

We focus on small wins and consistent growth. When learning feels achievable, confidence grows.

  • Weekly reports that keep you in the loop

Each week, you'll receive a summary of your child's progress — what they’ve completed, what’s coming next, and how they’re tracking. It’s an easy way to stay connected without needing to supervise every lesson.

Ready to Support Your Child’s Learning?

You’ve probably tried a few different tutoring services already for your child. Maybe nothing has felt quite right.

We’re here to change that. Take our free assessment, and we’ll show you exactly how we support students with ADHD — with flexible online tutoring, short lessons, and tutor support that actually works.

Common Questions About Our ADHD Tutoring Learning Support

My child has trouble focusing—will they struggle with learning on a screen?

It’s a valid concern, and many parents feel the same way at first. But unlike long school days or in-person sessions, our online lessons are short, engaging, and built to support focus—not test it. Children only need to concentrate for around 20 minutes at a time. That’s much more manageable than a full hour sitting with a tutor. Many children actually feel less pressure this way and are more willing to give it a go.

Is in-person tutoring better for ADHD?

Not always. In-person tutoring can sometimes feel overwhelming after a full day at school—especially when it’s another long session at a set time. Our flexible approach allows your child to learn when they are ready, and at their own pace. They can log in when it works best for them and take breaks when they need to. That kind of flexibility can make a big difference.

How will my ADHD child learn with Kinetic Education?

Your child starts with a short assessment so we can understand what they’ve missed and what they’re ready for. From there, they get a personalised learning plan with 20-minute sessions they complete at home, when it works for them. Lessons include animations, audio prompts, step-by-step instructions, and interactive activities—making it easier to stay engaged and understand what’s being taught.

What if they need help online mid-lesson?

Every lesson has built-in hints, audio instructions, and visual guidance. But if your child is still unsure, they can reach out to a tutor—who can even jump in and demonstrate things using screen sharing. We never leave children stuck.

Will this work if my child is highly distracted or avoids schoolwork?

We’ve designed everything with that in mind. The key is that learning isn’t forced—it happens in short bursts, with clear goals and rewards that keep motivation going. When children feel capable and in control, they're more likely to stay engaged.

Will I get updates on how my child is going?

Yes. Each week, you’ll receive a clear progress overview that shows what your child has completed, how they’re tracking, and what they’re working on next. It helps you stay informed without needing to oversee every lesson. And if you want more detail, your tutor is ready to help.

What if we’ve tried other tutoring before and it didn’t work?

We hear this a lot. Many traditional approaches don’t suit children with ADHD because they expect children to fit a rigid routine, and often don’t target exactly what your child needs. We do the opposite—our support adapts to your child. That’s why so many families see progress where others haven’t.

What if my child gets frustrated easily or gives up when things feel hard?

We get it—many children with ADHD have experienced learning environments that feel high-pressure or overly critical. That’s not what we do here. Our lessons are designed to be non-judgemental, low-pressure, and encouraging. Children can go at their own pace, take breaks, and try again without fear of “getting it wrong.” We focus on small wins, real progress, and helping your child feel proud of what they can do.

So many happy families
